  • Fixed an issue where some items in the ZPlugin: Misc Utilities were missing
  • Fixed an issue with NanoMesh Brush not working with “M” key’s Tool menu
  • Fixed a stability issue with saving curve profiles as ZCV-files

WHATS NEW

ZBrush has received an update for both desktop and iPad. The ZBrush version number for desktop will be ZBrush 2025.2.0 and the iPad update will be ZBrush 2025.3.0.

We’re keeping the ball rolling with more additions to ZBrush. Discover what has been added to ZBrush below.

ZBRUSH 2025.2.0 DESKTOP ADDITIONS

The upcoming Spring release will feature several new updates for ZBrush for desktop which include the following.

ZModeler

There are three new additions to ZModeler, the most significant being our ZModeler Presets.

  1. ZModeler Presets

This feature will enable you to store your favored ZModeler options without needing to open all the settings for ZModeler. Each of your polygon face, edge, and points actions can have their own set of Presets.

  1. Edgeloop Snapping.

This feature enables you to snap an insert edge loop to the center, quarter, or a user-defined range of 2 to 10 snaps within the edge loop receiving the inserted edge.

  1. Polygon Selection Mode

This feature utilizes the temporary Polygroup capability of ZModeler. Rather than applying it to one polygon at a time, you can now use any ZModeler Polygon Target to implement the temporary Polygroup, such as Polyloop. Consider this like selecting faces to which you can then apply another polygon action.

Redshift Attributes Added & New Redshift Materials

  1. New Redshift Material Attributes Added

The Redshift materials have undergone another update, bringing the ZBrush Redshift materials in line with other applications that support Redshift. All the attributes found in standard Redshift materials in other applications are now available in ZBrush, opening possibilities for creating more unique Redshift materials within ZBrush.

  1. 18+ Additional Redshift Materials Added

Now that the ZBrush Redshift materials have been updated, this opened up us to create more materials to render with Redshift in ZBrush. We’ve added several new materials, such as Dimond, GlassHollow, Jade, Emerald, Pearl, MetalRough, RedWine, Ruby, Sapphire and so many more.

Pro Projects

Pro Projects have continued to expand in this release, with more to come. These are exciting collaborations with prominent artists within their particular fields and give ZBrush users an opportunity to see how professional artists complete their work. Pro Projects include the actual assets from the artists for you to dive into and discover how did the artist make that piece.

Continuing the journey of teaming up with our amazing community, we’re proud to announce two more Pro Projects.

This release will include a Pro Project from Pablo Munoz Gomez and Henry Chervenka.

Pablo Munoz Gomez Project Assests

  • A completed sculpt that showcases how you can use ZBrush to create 2D final images.
  • 5 new brushes that can be found in Lightbox>Pro Projects on desktop and in the Brush picker on iPad, which 1 brush located in Insert Mesh category and the other 4 located in the Sculptural category.
  • 4 new textures located in Lightbox/Textures/Pro Projects folder on desktop and in the Texture picker on iPad.
  • His project also contains a material that’s perfect for that 2D toon shaded look. Plop your model in his project, click BPR to render and see what your work looks like in Pablo’s 2D inspired project.

Henry Chervenka Project Assests

  • A final vehicle called ZRide that showcases how ZModeler can be used to create a complex design and still maintain clean topology. Do yourself a favor, open up the project and take a look a close look at the tires. Henry’s left us some fun information for us to discover.
  • A fantastic new IMM brush that contains all of the switches Henry created for his ZRide master piece.

ZBRUSH 2025.3.0 IPAD ADDITIONS

The upcoming Spring release will feature several new updates for ZBrush for iPad which include the following.

  • Pro Project Additions

The iPad version also comes with the same two new Pro Projects from Pablo Munoz Gomez and Henry Chervenka that you’ll find in our 2025.2.0 desktop version.

The free version of ZBrush for iPad will not encompass the Pro Project brushes or textures. Only the models will be provided with the free version of ZBrush for iPad.

  • Brush Updates

  • Anchor brush has been updated to include the new Bend mode.

  • NEW Quick Polygroup brush is now shipped with the iPad version, allowing for a one click solution to create Polygroups based on topology.

  • NanoMesh

Provides you with an instancing system to edit and transform any mesh after it’s drawn to the surface, while keeping your polygon count low.

  • UV Master

This plugin has made its way to the iPad as well. With our unique control painting option, UV Master lets you layout UVs in an artistic way to meet technical pipeline needs.

  • UV Unwrap From Creased Edges

Use creased edges to define the exact edge that you’d like your UV seam to follow.

  • VDM From Mesh and To Mesh Added

You can now make your own VDM 3D alphas with the To Mesh and From Mesh options on iPad. These brushes help you create alphas that respect undercutting when sculpting. Check out our Chisel brush collection to see what’s possible with 3D VDM alphas.

  • New Modifier Wheel Sizes

As you requested, we’ve added to new modifier wheels size, 2XL and 3XL.

Just use the Gizmo3D to swap any mesh from an Insert Mesh brush by clicking the mesh in the IMM Viewer.

  • Gizmo IMM Replacement

  • Store Custom QuickMenu in your floating Tray.

We always want you to have the features you use most right at your fingertips. With the custom QuickMenu, you can easily control the settings you want to keep handy. This version lets you add your Custom QuickMenus to a floating Tray.

The All New ZModeler ZBrush for iPad Additions

  1. New Ui Design

In our ongoing effort to incorporate desktop features into the ZBrush iPad version, we have explored the feasibility of adapting ZModeler for smaller devices, including the iPad mini. Consequently, we have developed a new UI for ZModeler on the iPad, and introduced new workflows with the UI.

ZModeler works best with a mouse/pen hover state, so we suggest using an iPad with hover state capability or a mouse with your iPad for the best experience. But don’t worry, you can still use ZModeler on non-hover state iPads.

For example

  • You can select Polygon Face, Edge, and Vertex components without having to hover.
  • Feel free to place the ZModeler UI wherever works best for you.
  • Use long press to recall your stored Presets
  • For easy access to the temporary Polygroup, just click the new icon in the ZModeler Ui.
  • You can find the most used ZModeler options like Dynamic Subdivisions, Creasing options, and ZModeler modifiers right alongside the rest of the ZModeler UI.

Can we just get a Quad Draw Retopo function inside of Zbrush? The community has wanted this for years, why do you continually ignore the most sought after function? Even blender has Maya’s quad draw function for free with a free extension, its nonsense that we’re in 2025 and you still haven’t implemented this.

Also fix the knife cut tool from crashing the app, its absurd that this happens so much.

Have you tried the ZModeler retopo feature? This is something that is similar to Quad draw. We are also looking at what retopo could be implementing. We are also working on some other feature requested features that still need some more time to develop.

Can you share a model that crashes with Knife brush. We’ve done many changes in the last few builds to stabilize any known crash issues but if you can provide something that can repeat the crash 100% of the time that will help us look into that portion of the code and give us a mesh to use as a test to see if we fixed the issue.

Anything in greater detail would be a great help.
