ZB3 perspective, orthographic view

This is probably simple information, but i can’t find anything that makes sense.

When i fire up ZB3, the so-called orthographic view looks really bad, like reverse perspective (box looks wider in the back). Didn’t look that way in ZB2. This is not an optical illusion. I used to teach drawing, including perspective, so i do know a little bit about this…

Drag out a cube, go to edit mode, rotate to a 3/4 view. take a piece of paper and line it up with the horizontal edges on your monitor, and notice that they are not parallel (as in orthographic), but in fact converge TOWARD the viewer (rather than away from the viewer, as in perspective). Are there some controls in ZB to adjust this?

I’ve read something about a new ‘perspective view’, but nowhere can i find how to get it. Just that if you have it turned on (how?), what you draw will be in perspective. This also seems backwards to me – isn’t there a way to make the view look more perspective once you have an object in edit mode?

What i’ve read also says something to the effect that ZB3 changes the actual model to LOOK more perspective, which strikes me as ridiculous, so i’m probably reading this wrong.

please, someone, enlighten me about how to get a decent looking model-space here in ZB3.

thanks,
NJ

Hey illusory, after you draw an object on to the screen go into the draw pallet at the to of your screen , in the draw pallet there is a button that says perspective( the hot key is p) after you press this button you can adjust the focal length slider to get the result you want.

under : Draw > Perspective Distortion

or hotkey ’ p ’ to toggle. pretty odd implementation ( but consistent with z ) where whatever elements you have visible will be refocused ( in a sense ). so there’s a bunch of jumping around

snap !

ok, my perspective button was not visible for some reason, till i hit p (at your suggestion) and adjusted the focal length.

Thanks a million…i’m sure I’ll be pestering people here with a million questions… …but I actually printed out the manual, so maybe i’ll eventually find things in there.
