Zangief is a close range character as he is a wrestling type,
Zangief’s name is possibly based on real-life pro wrestler Victor Zangiev

This looks great! only Crit is that his arms feel a little too short, and hands a wee bit too small. Great work though!

I’d definitely start breaking the symmetry though before you get too far into it. Also, the flow of anatomy between the thighs and calves could be smoother.
Dude this guy rocks! well done. I have always thought he would be fun to do in 3d. You need to pose him up now, maybe in an hunched over idle pose.

Just one thing 
, If I look at the front angle , the upper body mass seems to be smaller that the lower . He is going for of an A shape than a V . But then maybe that was ure style .
are you going to have it textured ?
