Yet another protoss zealot

I’ve been working on this one for what it seems, an eternity, mainly because it was a trial and error process. This is how I learned how to use ZBrush, and Photoshop and Maya. If it wasn’t for tutorials or forums, I would have given up long time ago.
The Zealot it’s not yet done, it still misses a background but I am so curious about how it is perceived by new eyes that I couldn’t hide it any longer.
Please comment and suggest as am still learning and would like to use this image for a Graphic Design interview, and any improvement would give me a better chance.

this is coming along very nicely. I have a few criticisms which may improve this piece. The zealot appears to be running, and it would make the pose stronger perhaps to extend the front leg (or make it clear that the zealot is not running by bring the torso over the center of gravity). Also, at this angle, all the detail on the front of the armor is obstructed/hard to see. Perhaps turning his torso slightly towards the camera you can increase the strength of the pose and show off the armor better. The blue gems seem too flat, or lifeless - that is, if they are supposed to be a gem-like material.

Overall, I think you’ve done great work with the sculpting and likeness, though strengthening the composition will really make this a knock out piece. I suggest observing the diagonals, and line flows… In the current composition the hair and right arm are “glued” together, and the legs “diverge” at the knees… I’m not saying each limb should fly in very distinct directions, but I would recommend looking at top row pieces and other pieces which you think have a strong, easy to read composition. Try doing what they do, and see if you can make improvements in your piece as a result.

Whether you mean “graphic design” as in logo design, or designing computer graphics, a strong, easy to read composition will improve the presentation of your work. Keep at it, and I look forward to what you show us next! :+1:
