XP-Pen Artist 22 stylus not working in Zbrush 2021

Hello,

I upgraded to Zbrush 2021 today and upon first starting the application everything seemed to work fine. But now my stylus will no longer work on my display tablet. Nothing is responsive when I click on buttons or try to rotate the canvas. The only thing that seems to work is when I use my right button function on the stylus and that will allow me to rotate the canvas.

I have tried reinstalling and the same thing is happening. When I use my mouse everything works just fine though. Also the tablet services are all up and running and I do not get the pop up warning about tablet services not working.

Anyone else have this issue?

EDIT: I have also tried restarting my PC to no avail.
EDIT2: Also tested to see if my stylus works in other programs and it works fine.

same thing is happening to me.
i might open a ticket with zbrush

Glad it isn’t just me, but sad it is happening. I have tried reinstalling 3 times now and can’t get it to work like the first time. I emailed support and waiting to hear back from them as well.

"Alright this could be related to our display tablets and the newest version of Zbrush 2021, it was released just the other day. So far I’ve tested it with a non-display tablet, and it works, but not on an Artist display. So I will write a report to our engineers to further investigate this issue so that they can provide an update in the near future to fix the Zbrush issue. I see you also emailed our service email, so we will monitor your case and update you if there are any updates

Yea these things might happen, especially when the computer restarts or shuts down, that’s when the bugs start cropping up. But we do have another user with the exact same issue using another Artist display, so it might be an issue with our drivers"

This is what xp pen support told me.
I havent contacted pixologic support

Thanks for sharing that. Now for some reason I cannot find the download for 2020 Version anymore since I already uninstalled it. Looks like I will have to wait for a fix.

So I just uninstalled the Pentablet program and then reinstalled it and now it seems to be working fine. I have closed it down and restarted it twice with no issues.

XP-Pen 15.6 here with the same issue.

Hey, Uppalong.
After I reinstalled my software for XP-Pen I haven’t had any issues with zbrush 2021. The specific software I reinstalled was Pentablet.

You sir are a lucky guy, ive tried reinstalling several times, it doesnt seem to recognize the pen. did you do any special steps?

EDIT: so immediately after i posted this, i tried making the xp pen the main display and now its working… its a weird workaround. not really my preference but it’ll do until xp-pen fixes the issue.

I consider myself lucky. Lol I am half expecting it mess up again and it’s just a matter of when. But so far so good.

Edit: but besides reinstalling zbrush and pentablet and restarting my PC I haven’t done anything special.

It sounds like it’s an issue with the Pen from this account. However, be aware that these are just the community boards. If you require technical support for an issue, or would like to see some aspect of Zbrush recieve technical attention, you MUST contact Pixologic Support. Your issue will likely be missed by the developers otherwise.

Also, just for general information, be sure to be aware of the recommended system specs for ZBrush regarding tablet compatibility.

OK Temporary issue solving before XP do somethin:
1 Use old version of Z if you still have (I dont ffs) :frowning:
2 Set xp display as a primary. Its working for me

" update, this is more a workaround, but if you go to pentablet settings and uncheck the Windows Ink option I was able to get back cursor functionality in the program with our Artist tablets"

I got this email from xp pen support last night , I tried it and it worked hope it helps some people

Confirm it’s working

Nice troubleshooting, all!

Seconded…turning off Windows E-ink worked for me.

Thanks a ton, everybody!

I had the same problem with my xp pen, and disabling windows ink made more issues.
I solved it by putting my xp pen as primary screen in windows display options.

I’m wanting to get into zbrush and was planning on getting an XP pen artist 22e or 22r, Has this been solved for full compatibility?

Making Xp pen my main display fixed it for me to! tnx man!
