What program are you using to repair Zbrush meshes for 3D printing, I was using Prusa Slicer

Hi every body, so I have been printing a lot of things that I model in Zbrush on my Prusa FDM machine the Mk3. I use a lot of Boolean function in Zbrush and I find that most of my meshes contain many small errors. I export my models from Zbrush as an OBJ file and then import into Pusa’s slicer called Prusaslicer (used to be Slic3r). This slicer has a built in mesh repair feature that initially fixes any mesh errors, and it works great. Now I want to try out a resin printer the Epax X1k this printer uses the Chitubox slicer and I do not think it has a mesh repair function.

So I want to as every one here what is the reliable tool they use to fix their meshes coming out of Zbrush? Thanks!

Hi @Zolly

I use Chitubox with an EPAX printer, and don’t find the need to “repair” my ZBrush meshes in it. This may have more to do with your working process in ZBrush. If the small errors are things like gaps in the mesh, ZBrush has functions to address this, like “Close Holes” or Dynamesh.

I would say give it a try, and if you find you’re having problems with your meshes, post back here with more information about the kinds of errors you’re talking about, and your process in ZBrush.

Good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:

I use Simplify3D for slicing and occassionally MeshMixer for repair. However I’ve printed a lot of tools from Zbrush and don’t have problems. Run Mesh Integrity Check/Fix mesh before exporting. Run the Decimation Master plugin and export directly as STL with the 3DPrint Hub plugin. Never fails for me.

you got a link for a video on that?

I don’t have an all-in-one video on Simplify3D, MeshMixer, Mesh Integrity and 3D Print Hub. However since we’re talking Zbrush here, here’s one on 3D Print Hub and here’s one on Mesh Integrity
