Wacom pressure sensitivity issue in Windows 7 (Resolved)

Hi there,
I’m having real problems trying to get the Wacom Intuos3 pen pressure sensitivity to work in ZBrush with Windows 7, and can’t get the “Use Tablet” options to work (they’re greyed out). However, it works in Photoshop (thin & thick lines).

When I start ZBrush the “Wintab services not working” message comes up.

I think it’s a driver issue, but feel free to suggest otherwise. I’ve downloaded the latest Wacom drivers 6.1.2-4 and run the “setup” to install them, but can’t find where they install on my system (should be System 32 I think?). I’ve tried to “update drivers” manually by selecting the Wacom ones in my download file on the desktop, just in case, but the Device Manager only shows the Microsoft drivers. I’ve uninstalled, unplugged, plugged in, all with ZBrush on or off, but still don’t think the Device Manager has picked up the Wacom drivers, only the Microsoft ones.

How can I resolve the “Wintab” issue and get the correct Wacom drivers installed. Would this solve my problem, or is it something else? It’s driving me crazy!

Cheers!

Hi!
I’m running W7 x64 with a Wacom In3.

Does the “Wacom” folder appear in the startmenu?
If it does it should appear in the control panel too. If not reinstall it.

If you get the properties of the Wacom in the start menu and then choose
“Get file location” it should get you right to the file in explorer.

Best.

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, the Wacom folder is on the Start menu, and the files are in System 32. Even though I selected this folder to update the drivers, I get the message that “the best drivers … are installed”, but the driver provider shown is Microsoft.

Any more suggestions, please?!

Sounds weird, I just installed it and it worked.
I’ll check it out on my system later.
(And you are admin of the account?)
I’ll be back…
Best.

Hmm I actually can’t find the answer for ya.
Can you open the tablet preferences?
If no, you have to reinstall it. NOT via the w7,
download it from Wacom and run it.
If yes…it should work.
You can try to uncheck everything in the control panel that has
anything to do with “Pen and tablet” + “Tablet PC settings”,
The Wacom driver should “control” your settings.
Best.

I checked back on the Wacom website and they released an updated driver on 25th Nov:
New Driver 6.1.2-5 for USB Tablets on Windows 7, Vista & XP (32 & 64 bit)
They say this driver should fix bugs: “A problem with multiple graphics applications running parallel was resolved in 6.1.2-5” “This driver fully supports Windows 7”.
The new driver can be downloaded from here:
http://www.wacom.com/downloads/drivers.php

Anyway, I uninstalled the previous drivers, then installed this one & it works! No “wintab…” message & the pressure sensitivity is great!

Thanks so much for your help with this!
Cheers!

You’re welcoman, Great you solved it.
Best.
