Just a quick tip on what I just found to be very useful in my work flow. One of my favorite things about Deep Paint is the way you can change the pen size and opacity by just clicking the control key and draging on the screen. I found a way to get near the same functionality with Zbrush with a Wacom tablet pen. In the Wacom setup utility you can have the bottom and top buttons customized to your individule app. First: Create one for Zbrush (I don’t have it here infront of me at my day job, so this may be vague). Then set the bottom (or top) button to ‘keystroke’ and set it to ‘s’. Then set the top (or bottom) button to ‘keystroke’ and set it to ‘i’.
That’s it.
Good one ! Never tought of it, but it might be quite usefull, and will certainly work with other apps too…
Do you know if it is possible to do the same with key combinations ? (thinking about Painter Ctrl+Alt+Shift combo needed to resize the brush…)
>>Ctrl+Alt+Shift combo?
Yes. You can find this under ‘Modifiers’ for button setups. I have different setups for all my apps. Too bad it doesn’t have a scroll wheel. At least the Wacom that I bought a couple years ago doesn’t.
I am doing my nut in trying to think of what to put on the buttons - I wish there were more than two on the pen.
I think maybe Shift-Ctrl for one so I can use the partial visibility functions without having to go to the keyboard.
For the other: Alt so you can resize easily, or shift so you can switch brushes quickly, or Ctrl so you can mask easily, or…
There’s always the ‘eraser’ on the back the pen, thats also programable. My first thought was to use the buttons for ‘shift’ (smooth), or ‘ctrl-shift’(isolate-faces), but then again, your probably stuck with your hand over there anyways for all the other hot keys.
Who’s going to invent the bean-bag with a remote ‘hot-key’ pad built in? I want to take “lazy” to a whole new level.
Anyway, this bean bag exists… keyboard is the name, but they did it flat.
yea, try useing the eraser in 3d sculpting mode… it dose Zsub…
I used to have ALT for button 3 witch made it easyer to manipular 3d objects, and makes so you dont have to use the keyboard as much…
for button 2 I have it set for spacebar… this way you can adjust the depth, brush size, Z intensity, RGB intensity ECT…
With thise 2 tweaks I can almost use Zbrush without touching my keyboard…
I havent re-set the buttons yet, I am trying to learn all he new key shortcuts first…
I will probably set it to the above layout tho…
