Hey guys Im trying to render a tube shape capsel with transparency but I dont know how to do that with materials in zbrush. I think it has something to do with a transparent mask or a gradient material. I need to render it and use zapplink to edit for a final image. I need there to be a glassy feel but also to background.(Dose that make any sence?) I am useing 3.5R3
If any one could explain how to do this I will be very thankfull.
You would need to have the transparent portion on one document layer and the elements being viewed through it on a different layer. In the Render palette you need to turn Flatten off and your transparent part needs to use a material that has the Transparency modifier. To render you’ll need to select the background layer first, do a best render and then select the transparent layer to let it render as well.
aurick- Hey man im not really following you. I dont know how to make a different doc layer. Umm if you could explain step by step that would be really cool cause im not really following. Much thanks
I am looking for this also, a model with some part transparent in the texture map like an alpha channel.
Same problem here. But I didn’t try aurick’s reply out.
I didn’t hear about different doc layers either but maybe I’ll find out.
Guys the Document Layers are in the top Menu/Layers. That is an old school ZB 2 technique.

Here you go guys. Thanks to Aurick and Lemo
Thanks a lot dsoellbuster, that helped a lot.
Transparency is no problem now but that refraction just doesn’t work.
