topology reconstruction error

the base mesh was two boxes… done in maya,

and now they just broke…when i start to project the origin one…

after i set the projection range to a negative value…it broke at the oppsite side ,

so i check the normal in maya… but…there seems to be no porblem…at all…

is there any thing i miss ? or something i can tune to fix that?

any help will be appreciated~

It’s hard for me to tell for sure, but it looks like you have some funky stuff going on with triangles and star intersections. I’d recommend trying to rework the topology so that it’s all quads and such. See if that helps.

Another thing that I’ve experienced is that you can run into trouble with symmetrical meshes if your first topology ZSphere is not on the center line. With this model, though, that’s impossible. Have you considered deleting one of the shoulders and doing the topology for just one of them? After you’re done and have skinned the model you can clone and mirror it to give you the other.

hey aurick

thanks for your words~

triangles and star intersections…humm…these are something that i didn’t put into my consideration =,=

i just intend to save som polygun…

i thought about the mirror though。。but i need the low poly to save some render time…and u must not have any sub level when clone or mirror…

ioi

anyway…i allready rebuild this in maya…but i still need to fix it~

i’ll try to rework the topology with quads~see if it works

are the normals facing outward on both objects within maya?

yep~
