The easiest way to remove mesh from DynaMesh?

Hi.

I have been searching a solution for this for some weeks now but I just can’t find any GOOD solution.
I am mainly working with DynaMeshes (Great thing. Who needs something else?) and here and then I want to remove mesh I just don’t need anymore. I have found out two solutions so far.

  1. Mask section, Reverse Mask, Del hidden, Recalc Dynamesh. Works mostly, unless I want to cut a hole in the mesh. This does not work, but just closes the hole. Anyway, too many clicks.

  2. Use bool subtraction. (Really… I really wonder what you have been smoking when inventing such an anti-intuitive move-tool. If there is a prize… you won it… Ah thats another topic.) I use a sphere (since thats basically the only tool I can halfway control with your great move tool) and then sub it. From there I can smooth and move the mesh to enlarge the hole and shape it the way I want. Too many clicks as well.

What I have NOT found is just a simple “remove” brush. Why can’t I just “remove clay” and when I am at the end of the mesh, it punches a hole, just like in the real world?

Please help me finding an easy way out of this. Thank you.

Use a cylinder insert brush. Hold alt while drawing the cylinder, then move or stretch through the mesh.

The action line makes perfect sense, you just need to use it a bit more, most people who are familiar with the action line get upset that it isn’t used in other programs.

Remember also that the camera sets the angle of the movement with transpose line.
Use Q, W, E and R keys to quickly swithc between edit/move/scale/rotate.
Insert difference mesh with alt key

You can also append a now subtool and set the difference opt for it (in the subttool pellete) and hit remesh all.

What other 3d sof are you using that makes the transpose lines so hard and time consuming for you? You just need a moment to get use to different interface.

I am using 3ds max most of the time, especially for non-organic shapes.
To align, I usually use orthographic top/left views if its a uncritical alignment. If its a critical alignment, I use the align tools or absolute transform by entering numeric numbers. Unfortunately ZBrush has neither a (visible) corrdinate system, nor top/left views (by shortcuts T or L).

I wish its just a matter of misunderstandment, because that can be fixed easily. Is there any tutorial video or manual section available ESPECIALLY for the transpose line? Like “transpose line a-z?”

Thank you.
