Thank you ! I’ve been sculpting for 3 years now and I’ve not really “studied” anatomy but I try to work with anatomy references everytime I sculpt !

Thank you !

can you guide me a little. i am getting better at non humanoid characters. like stylized monsters. but i suck at human anatomy. i study muscles. ecorshe models. but its too overwhelming for me. do you have any advice you can give me. i haven’t tried sculpting a real human yet. i always go for torso head with muscles. should i change my direction or something

Well I used to draw a lot of characters from my favorites comics and mangas so that really helped me having a rough idea of what human anatomy should look like. I also did a lot of ecorshe drawings so I already knew basic proportions before switching to 3D (there’s still things to improve, I’ve received some feedbacks on this sculpt and I realized several mistakes I made) . Unfortunatly there’s no easy way, I guess you’ll have to study it a lot.

2 books that could help : Morpho by Michel Lauricella (you can redraw what you find interesting in the book) and Anatomy for sculptors by Uldis Zaran.

I think you should try sculpting a real human, even if you’re not satisfied with the result you’ll improve your knowledge on every sculpt you’ll do. Just don’t overthink it and go for it with the help of good references !
