Textures not visible (answered)

Hi all. I am doing a tutorial on textures. I clicked on a texture, but it is not showing up on the model. See attached. Any ideas?

Thanks

Stephen

The tutorial is for an earlier version of ZBrush. To assign a texture in ZBrush 4 see here:

Great! Thanks for your help.

Hi Marcus. I just tried the procedure for adding a texture based on the link you sent, but I am still unable to view the texture. See the attached screen shot.

Hi
Stephen0523

It works for me.

What’s the mesh? It looks like one of the pre-canned ImagePlane tools right?

So I…

  1. Open Lightbox and load up ImagePlane/ImagePlaneX and draw it, then
    hit edit.
  2. In the Texture Map menu, select any of the pre-canned textures.

It displays just fine. Obviously, if you need an imported texture that’s
step 1.5.

Ah. Just thought of something.

  1. Try using ‘BasicMaterial’, not red wax if your are working with textures.
  2. Move your colour picker back to white.

The green colour and wax mat’ may just be hiding your texture.

Hi Grey, very strange. Still nothing and I did the step by step. See the attached. I am running version 4 on a Mac Pro.

Did you load the ImagePlaneX.ztl from the ZTools/ImagePlane folder? That works OK for me.

Yes.

  1. Load ImagePlaneX.ztl from the ZTools/ImagePlane folder.
  2. Import the ImagePlaneX.psd into the Texture palette from the same folder.
  3. Click on the Texture Map thumbnail in the Tool>Texture Map menu and select the map from the popup.

Is this what you did?

Success! I restarted ZB and now it seems to be working.

Thanks so much for your help.
Do you do video tutorials? If so what are your rates?

Stephen

Great!

Sorry, no I don’t do video tutorials. But there are lots online. See here for Pixologic ones:
http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/

Various user created videos here:

And for third party training see here:

Thanks, I was looking for tutorials on specific models.
