Symmetry is not symmetrical

Hi there,

die you ever notice this problem: (ZB 3.2 Mac) I tried to build up a base mesh with ZSpheres and x-symmetrie. When I came to the hands, I rose op the ZSphere’s XYZ-resolution to 2, to get a (1) ZSphere for four or five fingers. After that, I put down the resolution back to 0.

When I press »a«, you can see, that the model is NOT symmetrical. I tried out several times with always the same result.

O.K., I can export the base mesh to e.g. C4D, I´m working with, and solve it there, but this is nor really satisfating.

Is there a solution for this?

Thanks and greetz,

Stephan

yeah zspheres loose symmetry real easily now.
i suggest just getting one side the way you want it and then using the tool:geometry: mirror and weld, once you have made your adaptive skin.

Hi spaceboy,

I suggest, you mean

  1. Make adaptive skin
  2. Mask half of it
  3. Hide the unmasked
  4. Del Hidden
  5. Clone
  6. Append as subtool
  7. Merge visibel and weld

Does not work really, lead on to big holes in the symmetry axe.

The export-and-fix-symmetry in a third-party-software works

It´s a pity. ZB is such a great softwarel

ah sorry i just noticed you’re using the mac version.

On a PC it’s

  1. Make adaptive skin
  2. Mask half of it
  3. Hide the unmasked
  4. Del Hidden
  5. Use tool:geometry: mirror and weld

It can be tricky if you have quads crossing the center seam. Otherwise, it works great.
