Suddenly refusing to generate a Normal Map

It worked fine the first time but I made some changes to the model and now the normal maps come out blank. The one on the left is how it should look and the one on the right is a blank one. I’ve tried it multiple times and I get the same result. I even shutdown the software and restarted and I still get blank normals. The model itself is fine it’s the normal map export that isn’t working.

I am guessing you are using Zbrush’s baking plugin. Have you checked to make sure you didn’t accidentally mess with or save over the UV unwrap?

If I were in your position I would immediately make a backup of the file then unwrap the UV’s again and bake the high-low normal map. This might reveal what went wrong along the way so you could go back and fix it from your normal file.
Also remeber that Zbrush auto-saves your file periodically. (Under quicksave tab in the lightbox menu.

One last suggestion is to look into xNormal, a tight little program that is fantastic at baking out different passes - It does it better than zbrush and a lot of other suites as it is highly customizable, very light weight, and best of all, free.

I’ve never used the baking plug in. I made some changes to the model and was able to create a normal map from that then I did a bit more work and tried another normal map to test the changes. The map was blank like in the attached image. I tried everything and it simply refuses to create a normal map.
At times things happen that I don’t intend, I just had part of a model get masked without me doing anything and I couldn’t delete it by clicking I ended up going to the Mask tab and deleted it from there. With the normal maps I did nothing that could have caused it to bake out the texture. I still have the subdivisions
as well. I think I have an earlier version of the model but it lacks all the extra detailing. I may try to open it and see if it still will generate normals. I just wish I knew what caused this so I can either undo it or make sure it never happens again. I used Zbrush a lot 8 years ago but I just picked up a month ago again
and I’m still getting used to all the changes. It’s a lot twitcher than it used to be.

Okay I just checked and the old model is good. Guess I’ll just have to call it gremlins and just redo the sculpting.

Thanks
