Just started working on a new creature. It needs much more detail, but here is a render.
Workflow: I modeled the low poly mesh in Max, exported it out to zbrush for sculpting. I then normal mapped it in Zbrush, brought it back into max and rendered it in Mental Ray.

Eventually he’ll have a human-like eyeball. Still working on the textures.

I would like to see the mouths a little more closed, or at least do some work to make them seem like they go somewhere like a throat or something :). Unless they’re purely for biting purposes

x-titan: Thanks. I will definately keep pushing the design. This is kind of something I quickly sketched a few months ago and I thought it would be interesting to create it in 3d. Originally I figured the mouths were superficial, but now I might give them a purpose. I’m thinking it kills its prey with the stinger and then slowly devours its kill with the small mouths. Since the mouths aren’t built for chewing maybe it spits some sort of acid out that breaks down the food like a fly. Not really sure yet, but it will come to me as I design this thing.
calum5ZB: How does he move around? Good question. He’s too top heavy. I will change this around a bit. Maybe he clings from the ceiling with his tail and dangles down. When something walks by he strikes with his stinger to paralyze his victim. Then he drops down onto his prey and becomes like a parasite? Not sure yet, but I’m open to ideas. He was never intended to move upright I just positioned him that way for now until I can compose a scene to stick him in.
