It’s almost Halloween and the pumpkin growing in the yard will likely not be ready for Halloween. I’m feeling still lucky to get any pumpkins so maybe it will be ready for Thanksgiving.
The Lady of the Garden saw pumpkins at Costco on our shopping trip. She said she didn’t need one but kept looking and hovering around them. When we finally headed down the aisle, I turned back without saying a word and headed back to the pumpkins. She said “Get one with a good stem.” Yup, she said she didn’t need one.
It hit me. I’m going to sculpt a Stormtrooper pumpkin.
I’ve seen people carve them like this.
But the Lady of the Garden had other plans. Rats! foiled again.
Or was I?
Like Dr Frankenstein, I began to form my thoughts. Start with something simple…
It began to take shape. Clean.
The Lady of the Garden liked it. Always a plus. Then she said it looked cute.
WHAT! Cute…“These are not the pumpkins you are looking for.” echoed in my head.
I headed off to bed. But I was awakened from a deep slumber, tossing and turning. Something was very wrong. “I have a bad feeling about this.”
The sun came up and I watered the plants and found myself staring at the pumpkin that wouldn’t be ready for Halloween. I felt it’s sadness from being replaced by a Costco pumpkin.
In that moment of pumpkin pain, I found my inspiration.
VINES!
My creation was missing part of it’s being.
And yet something was still wrong. Off to bed. That night, I was unable to fall asleep. “Help me Obi Wan Kenobi. Help me.” Lulled me to sleep.
I woke up with a start. Leia’s hair do. That’s it! Inspiration!
“Do or do not.”
“The circle is now complete.”
Meet the Stormtrookin
