Spotlight causing brushes to not work (answered)

Having some trouble with Spotlight, it was fine a minute ago, but now I can’t seem to sculpt when Spotlight is open.

I press Z to hide the dial, choose the Clay brush but I can’t sculpt. Press Shift+Z to turn off Spotlight and then it works fine. The only brush I can get working with Spotlight open is Move.

Like I said, it was working OK a minute ago… that is, Shift+Z to open Spotlight… arrange my image reference, Z to hide the control and then begin to sculpt etc… but all of a sudden something has changed and now I can’t sculpt whilst Spotlight is open.

Has anyone come across this?

Turn off Spotlight Projection in the Brush>Samples menu.

That’s the one! I just did a bit of playing around and realised I was able to sculpt with the image over the model, but couldn’t find what I’d switched on. I certainly didn’t activate this knowingly, so maybe I pressed a shortcut key by mistake. I’d better read up a bit more on Spotlight.

Thanks

It’s ON by default, so that you can sculpt and polypaint using a Spotlight image. But if you want to use Spotlight for reference only you need to turn it off.

for me is not working…I’m in osx…if i turn off that feature i cant still sculpt…it continues to move the spotlight menu around when i click!

Pressing your Z key will remove the widget and allow sculpting. Press the Z key again to bring the widget back to manipulate image.
