SPIDERMAN_Tribute to Humberto Ramos

I modelled this from an old comic book ‘The Spectacular SPIDERMAN’. Humberto Ramos done the pencil work for it.

I know its a bit different from the original image but I was going for the style he used to make spiderman look very skinny in the waist with big hands and feet.

I managed to keep this comic book for around 7 years as I really like the art work.

I also made a turntable movie of the progress models in After Effects.

I love this man!!! Great work!!

Great model!
Can you share with us the technique used to model all to those webs on his clothes?
In my opinion you can work a bit more on the render, maybe adding a render pass with a strong cold backlight like the one in the reference drawing.

very nice model!

Very cool. Thanks for the detailed explanation. The grass looks great!

I love it. Ramos is my favorite and I think you captured his style. Good job.

class!

Really cool dude. Great sculpt. Love the pose. The only thing i can say is that i think the lighting might be a little too dark. You loose some of that beautiful detail because of how deep some of those shadows are.

This by far is the best Spider-man i have ever seen any one do and i would love to have you do one for me.

WOW, Thanks everyone that commented. Im happy people are liking it. I emailed it to Humberto Ramos but no reply yet. thought he might get a kick out of it.

stefanobernardi<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_685768”, true); </SCRIPT> : The web was a pain to make. I made the feet web by retopology, unified skin then extracted it and used edge loops to smooth it.

The upper body was done with polypaint and the projection master using the line stroke. black paint on white model. Then mask with hue or saturation and sharpen mask. Extract and edge loops to smooth it.

Its not hard but very time consuming. I think it is worth the time but it would of been much quicker if the model was in a generic pose so i could of used the x symetry.

I know what u mean about the render. I was nearly going to do what u said but i wanted to render it with out using PS passes. I might do some more renders.

criteriasystems<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_685780”, true); </SCRIPT> : my pleasure, This forum is where I learn about zbrush so it seemed fare to post some progress images.

jeffmeckley<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_685809”, true); </SCRIPT> :thanks, i thought people would pick it apart but they seem to like it. I love his work too, he is a unique artist.

Clintus Maximus<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_685840”, true); </SCRIPT> : true I will do some more renders when i get some time. i was trying to get it to cast shadows and overlooked how dark it was getting. thanks

Mr.Pumpkin<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_685848”, true); </SCRIPT> : wow, thanks a lot. It means a lot to me to get possitive feed back from other zbrush users. Not sure what you mean about do one for you but if you can send me a message about it I’ll get back to you.

thanks again for checking out my model.

For some reason I’m not able to send you an e-mail but if you can some how send me a pm that would be great.
I would love you to be able to built me one of these Spidey’s.Best darn Spider-man i have ever seen and I have been collecting for awhile.

Yeah man!
This is some Spidey that kicks.
As a true fan of Ramos’ and Jenkins’ Spider-Man series (‘Return of the Goblin’ was great!:D), I have to say: :+1: very cool work indeed!
And I’d rather want to see this kind of work in top row than faces that just look like photographs:roll_eyes:… so 5 stars from me.

I thought the web was very time consuming, i’m always looking for new techniques that avoid time consuming work bout in most cases there’s no escape
The model is so good that i wait for a composited PS render, the render straight out of ZBrush doesn’t make him justice!

I got around to doing some render compositions in photoshop. I tried to make a stronger back light and lighten him up so he can be seen. I did a bit of photoshop work to make it look more like the original. wont get it the same because the pose is different but hey, I’m happy Its finished. Hope you like it and thanks for commenting, Its much appreciated.

Mr.Pumpkin<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_686476”, true); </SCRIPT> : I couldnt PM you. It said your settings wouldnt allow me to message you? If your after a print go to this link. I uploaded a high res image that can be downloaded for free and printed at a photo store if you want a print.

Ecthelion<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_686528”, true); </SCRIPT> :Thanks for the possitive feedback. Toprow, lol, I just started and the models on there are flawless but thanks for the support.

stefanobernardi<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_686655”, true); </SCRIPT> : Here you go, hope you like it. For the web design it might be worth looking at 3d max. at least you can make perfect maps and bring them back in to zbrush as a head start.

PHOTOSHOP COMPOSITION

Very impressive spiderman sculpt. its things like this i wish i could do myself, got to spend more time on z. love the last pic but the only crit is the eye not rounded enough and the shadows all in all top row:+1:

looking a lot better now;)

Thank you for the image:)
I would love for you to make one of these for me if possible.
My e-mail is [email protected]
Thank you:)

I love it !
How did you draw this " scales " on the suit ?

Awesome take on Spiderman bro! I am definitely a Ramos fan and his stylized stuff.

Thanks for the replies.

wolfie<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_686717”, true); </SCRIPT> : Thanks man. Photoshop passes were a lot of fun. its kinda hard to leave it and say thats it finished. I had like 10 passes but seperated them between the web and the costume. I went for a more comic book look. I found a material some where called toon.

Mr.Pumpkin<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_686739”, true); </SCRIPT> : Thats ok.

jinxx<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_686979”, true); </SCRIPT> : Thanks man. The pattern on his costume was done using texture map for the color and dispalcement maps to extrude it. Have a look at UV master anew plug in for z brush that makes it easier to make UV maps.

sarakawa<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register(“postmenu_686987”, true); </SCRIPT> : Thanks. He has a unique style. He was a big influence for me growing up. I sent him an email of this, but no reply yet.

Anyway heres a close up of Spidey to see all my mistakes. You can see the texture in the eye better in this one.
