here is the wire (I think its at lv2)

And shader (the spec parameter might be different, cuz I changed it over time)

and the scale factor is around 2-3. Too make sure the sss isnt too strong, I usually see the darkness inside the nose (they’re supposed to be really dark, i guess)

About the hair, I used 3dmax’s hair and fur simply because I don’t have/never try other app. From what I’ve read, there’s a plug-in called ornatrix that supposed to be better/faster, so you might want to check it out :slight_smile:

the base head(natalie/david) is my old models, I used Zsphere at starting point.

Just want to know your 3dmax lighting setup… how many lights you have used

did you have tried HDRI lighting with GI, or only standard max lights?

are you planning to animate her?

bkravi - I use 3 area lights (photometric), with FG and GI, no HDRI. I don’t know if i’m going to animate her or not, because right now, I know nothing about animation :stuck_out_tongue:

MarkInTime - the glow maybe because I add something they called difuse glow trick in photoshop…

Also, here is the current test render, this time I only add noise, and something about resizing the green channel in photoshop…

Still quite a bit work to do before I’m done with this…hope you like it :slight_smile:

fantastic job really…the best head and skin i have seen. I would just suggest to improve the hair…because some strands are really odd…and the subdivision is so visible.

I didn’t think it was possible, but somehow you managed to make her look even better.

I agree with the comment about the hair, the sub-divisions are visable but you go the look of the hair down pretty well, really well :). I was wondering how long it takes to render out that image?

So how did you get the refelection in the eyes to work like that? Environmental map? The last render is truely stunning. What does photometric mean? I am going to try to get a similar style of realism with my flayed human. Make it more icky. I’m using XSI so it has mental ray as well. I figure that final gather and photometric lights will be an option as well.
