i love the results of the snakehook 2.5d. i can build horns who automatically readjust to an well balanced organic form right away. i cant get this with the 3d snakehook tho. is there a brush or a tool in 3d mode which behaves similar to the 2.5d snakehook ?

Unfortunately the 2.5D brushes and the 3D brushes are completely different tools and operate with different limitations. There is no real time 3D equivalent of that brush.
However, If you reduce the Focal Shift value for the Snakehook brush you can perform longer extrusions before the stroke tapers off. This would let you create longer, swirling shapes in a single stroke. A setting of -100 is basically an infinite stroke.
