Smooth brush draws a red line with a number?

I’m trying to sculpt in 4r8. I’m in edit mode, i can still add to the object, but when holding shift it draws a red line with a number instead of actually smoothing anything.

I tried looking up previous stuff but can’t seem to find the right thing to type into the search pane.

While holding shift the smooth brush is still displayed on the left, its not working for me. I’m sure its a simple solution please help. Thanks so much. :confused:

You have activated Lazy Mouse on your smoothing brush somehow or another.

While holding down SHIFT, go to Stroke > Lazy Mouse, and disable the button. For a normal brush you can just press “L”, but this doesnt work for the smooth brush while holding down shift.
