Small Active Icons (Brush, Alpha, Stroke, Texture, Material) [Answered]

I took my 30" (2560x1600) home so I am using a standard 24" (1920x1080) at work now and I need to optimize my interface to accommodate the smaller resolution. I am trying to get the smaller active icons for my brush, alpha, stroke, texture and material. I basically need the same icons that are on the right click quick interface. I can not find them anywhere other than on that interface though.

I am aware that I can dock small icons to change to a specific brush, etc, but I want to be able to pull up my brush window using an icon instead.

Does anyone know where these icons are stored in the UI?

Image is showing what I want to grab

I prefer the interface shown in your screengrab, pops right up under the curser, fast workflow. Mine have always? been where shown here>>http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?172590-Updated-UI&p=1006795#post1006795

Hi,

I am playing with my UI in the moment so I have a clue
Small materials button i.e. :
Take the material palette and dock it left or right side.
Didn’t work for me in just clicking on top row menu, I had to dock it.
Preferences / Config / Enable Customize…you know this… and STRG+ALT drag (windows) to the place where you want.

This works with every Palette. Brushes etc. I always dock them, make the brush I want active, then STRG+ALT Drag the tiny! Button to the place I want it. Not the bigger button showing the active brush. It appears smaller in the little overview beside this. That’s the guy we want.

Generally you can go to Preferences / Interface / UI and reduce the button size. I was just able to go down to 38, which is smaller, but not the size you are looking for.

Good luck!

Holy crap, purple and green. Are you blind son?

That isn’t the icon I want. I want the one that opens up my active alphas, textures, brushes, etc. Not a quick select icon for certain brushes, I want a single, small icon that opens up the proper menu, just like the ones in my image. But thank you for the responce.

LOL, not quite, glasses help immensely. I might be older than you.

The icons in the Quick Menu are essentially the same as those in the palettes. If you Ctrl+Alt drag one to a shelf then it will act in much the same way as the large icon, in that if the item is already selected then the pop-up menu will appear. If you only use that icon for selection then you won’t see any difference but it won’t update automatically if you use some other method - you’ll then need to click the icon twice to get the pop-up.

Duh…and I knew that. Thanks Marcus

How do I make my post say Answered?

I think you just edit the title of your first post - but I’ve done it for you.

That was too easy
Simply switch to UI Layout sculpt01 and they are already there on the left side like you are used to, including updating;)
I am missing just the brush icon but:

“you’ll then need to click the icon twice to get the pop-up” - that’s a cool hint. Thanks

bah, forgot about that. I knew I found them somewhere else before, but they appear to be the same thing Marcus was talking about anyway.

Thanks again guys.

If you turn off Preferences>Interface>UI>Wide Buttons then the small icons will be square (half the width of the rectangular icons). If you like then, store the configuration (Shift+Ctrl+i). You may need to restart ZBrush to get the wide buttons back.
