Skull Designs

Thought I’d start a dedicated thread for what is going to become a slew of skull design studies.

As I continue with the daily learning, I’m finding myself carving simple skull shapes from scratch, then building up crazy details as I explore the various brushes.

I’m also finding that fooling around with MatCaps is giving me a great head start with how I’d like to use some of these as final pieces - some eventually printed out in 3d, others being used a graphics for prints/t-shirts, etc.

These started out as simple doodles, but quickly turn into “what if I try this?” concepts that ZBrush makes extremely easy to explore - something that would be nearly impossible to do with traditional 3d methods.

Comments and feedback encouraged.

Thanks for looking!

These were doodles from this morning using the snake hook brush and trim dynamic to see how far I could push the polys while remeshing with Dynamesh.

I also think finding the right matCap helped pull out the detail in these. Would like to take them a bit further too.

what a cool idea keep the designs coming I might try some myself thanks for the inspiration:)

After repainting the chrome region on the first design, I took it into Photoshop and started playing around with the filters.

I think this particular image has potential for a bold, t-shirt graphic.
