setting center of rotation

hey anyone know how to set the center of rotation to different areas of a mesh, like if i hide a body leaving just the head how do i set it so when i rotate around, when it pivots, it’s centralized to the head portion? thanks.

In the Tools>Preview window drag the little red cross to where you want the centre.

You should use the Set Pivot Point and Clear Pivot Point buttons. They are located on the right side of the interface and also in the Transform palette. The shortcuts are ‘p’ and shift+‘p’.

You can also enable Local Transform, again located on the rights side of the interface and in the Transform palette. That sets the rotation pivot point to the last edited vertice.

The difference between the two is that the first sets the rotation pivot point and also the center for any Tool : Deformations that you might apply. The second only sets the rotation pivot point for use while in Edit Mode.

Edit: If you are using the 1.55b demo you should do as Marcus said.

OK, different thing.

thanks a bunch!
