Scary Door Knocker WIP

This is my first reasonable attempt at sculpting in zbrush and was initially just an exercise in learning how the tools worked. Though since I am quite happy with the result I was thinking I might turn it into a scary door knocker mounted on a large sinister looking door… though I am having some problems tiling textures on a 3d plane to make up the door, so if anyone has any ideas as to the best way to go about this please let me know.

Here is the basic model with some detailing

I like the first image, shows great character.

Perhaps, Svengali’s Map-it script will help you there. It’s the first one listed in the links in my signature. It has a tile feature for texturing that may help ya out a bit.

Thanks for the tip that zscript seemed to do the trick and I mocked up a door to complete the image. I tried to make a metal mount for the door knocker but had some problem lining up the layers on the z axis after playing around so it’s lost somewhere behind the door… Still at least it now feels like a complete image even if it is a bit crude, back to the tutorials I think  I really love this program its such fun to work with though I do often find myself confused and having to redo things but thats all part of learning I suppose

I like the first model
in the final image I will put the ring in the ears (this is only an opinion)

I like it, reminds me a little of these: http://www.distinctivedoorhandles.com/Doorknockers.html from the movie The Labyrinth.

Hi CONTRABAND,
maybe you should give it a try with the materialsettings I used for my doorknocker.
You can find them here:

thanks for the comments and tips, nurgaren I loved Labyrinth maybe that’s where some of the inspiration came from. I tried rendering the displaced model with Fets material but it didn’t come out right, probably because I already had a texture in the tool at that point, so I ended up just trying with the basic model. It still looks quite good though. Nice door knocker btw Fets
