Revvels - Sketches

Hey guys, what up :3

Lately I've been doing some sketchwork in Zbrush and it's been getting better each time, now it's gotten to the point where I would like to share it with others and see what they think about it. These took from an hour to three hours to make, in order of when I made them. So go all out :)

Very strange, very interesting, much more towards fine art, keep up the work and maybe consider making some very large scale prints of some of these, the last one in particular, I feel it would very much have a good home in a gallery exhibit.

Thanks  It’s just very satisfying for me to just work on a picture rather than what I usually do (mostly character rigging for animation) and get an end result really quickly. And I think taking the step to full body (like I did in my last piece) should make things more interesting  More soon!!

Hey, been a while since I made one. I was working on a full body one for a bit but had a rather confronting experience two nights ago that I had to do a piece about. This is what came out. I also added the sentences that inspired the pieces in my previous post. I know this isn’t quite the work that’s usually posted here, but I hope it’s welcome nonetheless  I’ll be travelling for the next two weeks, hope to post some more after that!

Pull me into your perfect circle

Very unique I like your style.

Hey guys, well, I’m back in school so it’s back to the serious stuff for me. I’ve been trying to sculpt a full character; rather than just making a head and modeling the clothes I’d thought it would be nice to sculpt the entire body. Unfortunately the last I was taught anatomy was with figure drawing two years ago, so I could really benefit from some critique, anatomical or otherwise  I haven’t worked much on the back yet, the arms, hands are feet are neigh untouched. Other than that; flame away and expect an update soon  Thanks!

Unique style you got there.:+1:

As for the anatomy : can’t stress enough the fact that you need some good references.

I’m currently reading “ZBrush Digital Sculpting Human Anatomy” ( from Scott Spencer ) and I can say it’s a “must” if you want to learn anatomy sculpting.
The book and the videos on the DVD from the book are just awesome.
You can get it from Amazon. (GREAT value for your money!)

Another great tool is a ZTool you can purchase from Zack Petroc ( http://www.zackpetroc.com/ ) : it’s a human skeleton with the major muscle groups as a subtool, so you can see in 3D where the muscles attach, which is a huge benefit over a 2D anatomy book.
He’s got a ZTool for the body and a ZTool for the head, and 2 accompanying videos, which you can buy all separately.

Good photo references are also very helpful …

Hope this helps,
Have fun!
Dominiek.

Thanks  Got the book on order, guess I’ll just mess about a bit 'till it arrives :3

Your characters look like Sagrada Familia Church’s sculptures.
It’s nice. I like them

Make more stuff like what you have up the top of this thread. It’s very cool. :+1:

Well, waiting for the anatomy book I made another sketch like thingy  Hope you like it.

Push the envelope, watch it bend.

And another one :3 just for the heck of it.

Reminding me that I am not alone.

interesting work…

Made another one today

Deadhead chemistry

Hey guys :slight_smile: Still busy with school but actually met a deadline today, so huzzah. Been trying to sculpt some more in my free time;

Hey guys, I worked on him some more, moving things around (especially his nose) and tried some more skin detailing. I hope it ended up better  Also, in my previous post; for the hair I just masked out a part of his head and sculpted right on the same model (just in a different layer). This time I duplicated the tool, masked out a bit and used HidePts to hide the rest of the model. Same thing was used for the moustache (somehow I couldn’t resist ;D) so I have a subtool for a few pieces now with HidePts, but I was just wondering if it has a major impact on performance or not :o

Decided to leave the face as is for now and see how far I can come with the rest… Started with the torso

The patches on his shirt is supposed to be leather armour, but it’s not finished yet. Gonna continue on the morrow, cheers!

im diggin the overall structure for the face… looking forward to where you go from here. :+1:

Get some face reference. Your nasal labial furrow is starting and ending at the wrong spot. Also the one from the corner of his mouth going down are in the wrong spot. His philtrum is also not very well defined. The zygomatic arch is overly defined as well. His cheeks aren’t going to be that sucken in unless he’s extremely emaciated. Google some faces no one has those massive divets in their face. The sternocledomastoid(bulging neck muscle) starts from behind the jaw and goes down to the sternum between the meeting of your collar bones. You have them going away from the middle of his chest towards his shoulders and they’re starting from behind his ears. His ears are on the small side too.

Even with all that it still isn’t bad. Just keep those things in mind and always work from reference.

Edit: I do like the look of his armor so far though. That seems to be going in a good direction.

Hey! Thanks, just what I needed  I’ll hopefully have some time to work on it today, and I’ll completely reevaluate the face. Even have some cool new words to google  Thanks, both of you!
