Reset X-Form in Zbrush? Sizing issues

Hi everyone!

I’m having some trouble with a Zbrush model I want to eventually get into UE3 at work.

I made some human base mesh in Max, guessing a fair 180 cm size. After getting it into Zbrush I soon noticed some problems with the move tool, since it seemed to barely have effect on the model (regardless of Z intensity) and its effects seemed to have a cap. I had seen that before, and it seems to be the program having trouble with processing incredibly high numbers, so I guessed that the model was insanely huge.

I probably made the mistake to scale it down to a more reasonable size within Zbrush, and when I got to fix the UVs in Max and reimported it back to ZB, I noticed the model had a big size discrepancy, and it was many times smaller when it returned to ZB as a subtool. The problem is that the size different has an impact on ProjectAll, so I can’t just transfer the detail to the model with UVs and continue.

I wonder if there is some way to “fix” a model that has been rescaled in ZB, or more preferably, some kind of Reset X-Form command within ZB that resets the resizing value to force the new size to be considered as the default one.

Tool>Deformation>Unify

Hey, thanks a lot! I didn’t know about that function (even if it’s way less obscurely hidden than I would have guessed, heh). However, it seems to resize it to the dimensions he prefers, rather than accepting mine.

Anyway, I guess I can manage to work this way, and eventually do the final resize + reset xform in Max. Not a big fan of the idea though.

how did you import the model into Z?
If you import an object with a scale that will be too large for Zbrush it will rescale it during import so all of Z’s tools work correctly on your mesh.
It will do an inverse export setting so that shouldn’t cause a problem.

Thanks for the info! If I recall right, my first import was taking the basemesh from MAX to ZB via an OBJ, and in the subsequent modifications I used GoZ. I guess this might be the cause.

There seems to be quite a discrepancy between what ZB considers a good size for a model, and Max, since 180 cm in MAX result in an insanely huge model in ZB, and a ZB model that fits in the preview window results in a tiny model in MAX that even provokes camera clipping problems due to the small scale. I must be missing something.

Go to Tool>Export and increase the ‘Scale’ slider. By default, it is set to 0. Setting it to 1 equals 100% size.

I appreciate it, but it seems like it was already set to 1, so I’m still clueless.
