Questions re: Movie Timeline

Hello all! I’ve been playing around with the Movie Timeline and have a few questions.

1). I’ve been mainly working with the ‘Layer’ track, but it’d be cool to be able to alter all Layers’ keys at once. When I switch to edit ‘Layers’ none of my keys I put on the ‘Layer’ track are in there. And if I do put new keys in ‘Layers’ they don’t seem to work anyway. In the documentation it says that ‘Layers’ can be used to make simultaneous changes. Can I ask how to use this properly? Both ‘Layer’ and ‘Layers’ are selected in ‘Enable’.

2). ‘Link’ doesn’t seem to do anything. I’ve tried unlinking and linking different tracks and nothing happens; ‘Camera’, ‘Subtool’ and ‘Tool’ are always highlighted regardless of what I click on. Am I doing something wrong?

3). There’s a mystery square button to the right of the timeline. It turns orange when clicked and does something; possibly 2.5D related, but I have no idea what. What does the mystery button do?

  1. What can the ‘Contacts’ track do?

Many thanks,

Chris

Hi @Chris_Wright

I don’t use Layers or the Timeline very much so I might not be much help here. The following is from the Timeline docs.
Layers
“This track is dedicated to the simultaneous animation of all 3D layers at once for the current Tool or SubTool, by changing their visibility and/or intensity. Changing the visibility is done by setting the intensity slider to 0 (hidden) or 1 (fully visible).”

As for that square on the end of the Timeline, I don’t have that, but I’m on ZBrush 2022.0.8.

Thanks for your reply @zber2
I had another quick play around using the information you gave and the ‘Layers’ track is still a complete mystery. It doesn’t seem to do anything lol.
Hopefully someone else may know.
Maybe @Spyndel or @PixoPaul ?
