Projection Problems

Hi All

Got a weird projection problem I need help with please!

I have some experience with projection and fixing the errors that can occur along the way but this one has me stumped.
Cap_01

Its a simple enough object, that has been remeshed ready for projection.
I have subdivided once and run with Project all at the default distance but a PA Blur of 0.

This has zero effect.

I changed the Projection settings…

But got this…

Tweaked the settings again but it got worse…

I have tried changing the PA Blur too but the mesh still goes crazy. I cant seem to find any combination of settings that even starts to get close to a successful projection.

I’m in the middle of a job so any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks.

Hello Matt.

Sorry you’re having some trouble. A few things.

  1. If you are projecting detail from the “Gloves Shoulder HD” subtool, note that its remesh mode icon is set to subtraction. Set this back to the default additive mode on the left.

  2. Unless I’m misunderstanding what Im looking at, the target subtool will likely need subdivided a few more times before it can capture all the detail from the original source mesh smoothly.

  3. The setting that most often needs adjusted in the Projection Menu is the “Dist” slider. You may need to increase or even max it. I rarely need to adjust the PA blur.

  4. Double check that only the source mesh is visible in the subtool list when projecting.

Hey Spyndel

You are a life saver. It was the remesh mode!

Must have inadvertantly switched it to subtract at some point.

I tend to go up through the sub D levels and projecting as I go so that has all work edbrilliantly now.

Thank you so much for replying and pointing out that error for me.
