Project Bug...?

Hi

I seem to have a strange problem with projecting. I’ve encountered it with 2022.0.6 and also with the version on my university’s systems, which uses 2022.0.5. And yet, it’s fine with my 2022.0.5. Essentially, when I mask an area that I don’t want projected, it seems to just ignore it and projects it anyway. :-/ Has this been reported as an issue? Or am I missing something?
Thanks.

Hello @DustyShinigami ,

I don’t immediately encounter any issues with protecting a mesh from projection detail with masking:

The simplest explanation would be that you aren’t looking at what you think you’re looking at. If you have a lengthy subtool list make sure that there arent any unintended subtools visible and contributing, and use Solo mode to make sure you are looking only at the active subtool and not at some sort of duplicate mesh.

If you can find a repeatable situation that does not perform as it should, please contact ZBrush Support and document the issue.

Thank you!

Nope. I literally have just three SubTools and the first and main one is selected. I tried using Solo Mode, but that didn’t work. However, what did, was masking the area I didn’t want changing on the main mesh and on the one used for projecting the details.

So, to check I’ve done things the right way - are you supposed to mask the area off on the main mesh that you don’t want affected or can it be done on the mesh you’re projecting the details from? If it’s the former, that would explain everything.

Thanks

To prevent points from moving on a mesh you must mask them. So in this case you would need to mask the points on the target mesh to keep them from being affected by the incoming projection.
