Pressure Sensitivity Problems

Hey guys,

I’m a new guy here and to Zbrush. I finally decided to dive head first into the world of 3d digital art and all it has to offer. Unfortunately for me I’ve been getting this weird bug when trying to sculpt anything. It persists from brush to brush to Zsketch. I’ve been trying to troubleshoot it myself but seeing as it’s seemingly random I’m at a loss.

Basically what happens is that my pen pressure spikes at random times. I can sculpt for twenty minutes and not see anything and other times I’ll start it up and every stroke has this problem only to have to have it fixed by shifting my brush size a bit. Then it works for a bit and repeats. To make matters worse Zbrush wont register pressure sensitivity unless my internet is connected or my media player is on. I have absolutely no idea how those could correlate to my problems but apparently they make some sort of difference.

I’ve been looking around the internet for several hours but can’t seem to find anything remotely similar to this problem. If you guys have any ideas I’m all ears.

I’m running Windows 7 Sp1 with a intel i7 2670QM and a Ati HD 6990m.

The tablet I’m using is a monoprice 19 interactive pen display which I’ve had absolutely no problems with any other program. It works like a dream in Photoshop!

And last but not least here’s a picture of what’s happening. It seems like it almost sticks to certain areas too.

Just a quick update after more testing. I managed to fix it or so it seems.

I had to completely disable the windows tablet pc components. Wiped all the drivers for the umteenth time and manually removed any related files. I then replaced them with Huion G-190 drivers which then had a problem with my graphics card.

After trouble shooting that and rolling back my graphics drivers I reinstalled Zbrush and lo and behold everything is working great! Guess it was just a case of bad drivers, odd compatibility issues and a messed up instillation. I had tried the Huion drivers before but they refused to register in Zbrush period. Guess I somehow managed to over lap drivers.

Either way I’m glad to finally sculpt details with out constantly hitting undo.

Cheers,
Torm

Annnnnd the problems came back. I didn’t change any thing in the slightest. I was about 3 hours into a sculpting session and they suddenly resurfaced… I’m at my whit’s end.
