Polypaint Texture resolution Issue

I use Zr6 and when at the highest Sdiv and create the map it is generated as if we were on a lower SDiv. The face model has almost 2 million poly at the highest Sdiv level. The texture map generated is very low quality with jagged edges.

The process I followed to generate the map—

  1. Modeled the low poly mesh in 3ds max
2)Import it into the zbrush and give some detailing. Then send the lowest level back tho 3ds max for UVs
3)Import it into the zbrush and polypaint it at the highest Sdiv.
  2. Create the texture by “New from Polypaint” in Texture menu. Clone the texture.
But the texture quality is very low. Please help to resolve the issue.
    The texture map is attached.

how large is your texture?
you need a minimum of 1 million points to make a 1k map, 4 million for a 2k, etc, etc.

The texture resolution is 2k. I have increased the poly level to almost 4 millions but the texture quality coming out is still very poor.
I am really stuck in this peculiar problem …please Help guys…

I am facing the similar problem. texture is high resolution i.e. 4096 and polypainted at subdivision level 6 about 2 million active points but it follows the low poly uv map and gives a jagged texture. See the eye-brows in the exported texture (attachment). It looks perfectly fine in zbrush before exporting it.

I am facing a similar problem. polypainted at 2k with 1.2 million active points. the exported texture looks jagged in uv map. see the attachment

How big a texture size did you select in the export options? Also how big is the UV map, as that will determine maximum texture size.

post up a pick of your polypaint data so we can see what you have painted vs the texture that you’re generating.

i find this happens sometimes with UVs made outside of zbrush.

you can try as a test, unwrap it using UV master and see how the texture comes out then, if you still have similar results then you know it’s not the UVs, if the texture comes out good then you know it is.

  1. Are you using the latest ZBrush(4R6 P2)?
  2. I don’t see GoZ mentioned.
