Metal Gear Solid: Grey Fox....and beyond...

So, here is my first legit zbrush character. I’ve fooled around with zbrush once or twice and then finally decided I need to sit down and finish something! So I did. Still a newbie but I’m pretty happy considering it’s my first next gen character.

Nice job. seem very efficient as well.

Very cool work man. Love love love the presentation! My only critique would the shot on the pedestal could have a stronger silhouette. Still a nice pose though.

nice, well done:+1:

Thanks guys! I have gotten the same opinion from a number of people about the pose. Seems to be hit or miss…some people love it, others not so much. I am thinking of doing a couple mental ray renders before moving on to another character so i will prob do some new poses. Anyone have any good tutorials for rendering game characters with mental ray? preferably in 3dsmax?

I love Metal Gear Solid, is my favorite game

Good representation of the Ninja :+1:

I’m crazy to modeling a character of MGS
but i don’t have time…

who knows one day!

Is very good your work, great, congratulations, a big hug!!!

:lol:definetly not a newbie.good job !

Very nice Grey Fox model! Love the series…and your sculpt is awesome!

workin on new concept for my next character. i want to do something simple with cloth so this is kinda what i had in mind. sort of a hybrid of other game characters.

Great drawing. Nice gesture, details and theme. Should be great.

Tight Characters! Good Job!

Here is my latest sculpt. It’s been taking me forever because I just haven’t gotten the chance to sit down and really work on it. In any case, this is my first ever female sculpt in zbrush. I will build on top of it to create the character I concepted. I’m sure proportions and details will be tweaked as I go. I also plan on retopoligizing the breasts due to some problems with odd shaped quads. The toes are crap cuz I didn’t really bother to model them in my basemesh and I will end up building boots over them anyway. Up next, tanktop! Oh, I am also debating about how to do her hair. Since she is going to be a game character, I was just going to do cards but I wasn’t sure how to go about normal mapping sculpted hair geo into cards. If anyone knows of any good tutorials on stuff like this, let me know!

Hey man!
The Grey Fox looks really good!!! If you spend some time tweaking the spec map I think that the model will look even better!
Great concept of the woman! The model is going great too, I just think that the hips are a little bit large.

Keep it up! I’ll be following you thread!

RafaZChies: Thanks man. Yea, the spec map could definitely use work. I will prob go back at some point to tweak it and render better images using mental ray (when I get chance to learn more of that;)). As for this girl, I wanted the hips to stand out a bit so she’s not the perfect barbie doll shape. But you could be right, maybe I do need to tone them back a tad.

I don’t have experience with low poly yet (Sagat will be my first) but I’d prefer to use a real time engine to render low poly work! Marmoset is a good choice, but you can do this also in UE3 that comes with Unreal Tournament 3 or the Cryengine, these two are the best options, I think!

I hope it helps!

dude, sweet! thanks for the marmoset link. i actually downloaded that engine last week and was looking for a good place to show me how to use it properly. crap, i may have to put this gal on the backburner for a week to play with marmoset!

update on my girl character…i gotta think up a cool name! any suggestions? next up, gonna do her jacket…

WIP 1.jpg

alright, here is the jacket i did tonight. either going to do her hair or her fingerless gloves next. so much to do! still havent thought of a good name…suggestions please!

Small update…blocked in the hair. Still not thrilled with it but just not sure how to go about doing it. I think it will look ok once it’s textured and has alpha. I don’t think I’m going to sculpt it. Suggestions, critique, welcome. still haven’t come up with a name for her either! Up next, modeling the gun and holster to add to her belt.
