I’d like to hear your opinion, comments or critique of my Carnotaur model as such, before I take it to next stage

wow, tbh im not really a fan of the style you went for but that is some damn fine detailing. puts my dino to shame
so much detail looks great
for me arms are a little small even if you’re going for the t-rex feel but im just nit picking
You are, carnotaurus has the smallest arms compared to body size of the found dinosaurs so far…yes, even smaller then t-rex.
Like the new approach to this dinosaur, reminds me of a rhinoplates covered body.
Unleashed, If you could explain what do you mean by the style,
does it mean the way I made this entire image, monochromatic style, or something with the model?..
I need all the info and crits on the model before I can go on with it, wether it is positive or negative.
Znewman, Soyseitan is wright, Carnotaurus sastrei has one of smallest arms compared to his body, if you had noticed it misses smallest finger on his hands(he has 4 fingers, fourth is not actuall finger) Id say, damn, you got me there.
Soyseitan, thx, do you think theese plates are to thick on the ends, should they be thinner, or something like that?
Should I make his legs thinner?
I have certain questions, I havent found an answer to, so I need second opinion, cos I spent so much time with it, I lost my subjectivness.
Is this dinosaur OK just the way you see it, or it needs some tweaks to fully shine.
heh well i’m totally happy to be corrected , looked up some pics of it and damn if the arms aren’t tiny, now I’d even consider making the arms smaller , poor carnotaur
as for the legs they probably could be smaller compared to the pic I attatched, but the way you have it really suggests a lot of power/speed that is appealing especially with the title you have for it
scales look fine overall, just the ones running down the side of the shin and calf that stand out to me a little
looks great

Znewman_ man, thx, You even went to wiki to check it, man, that’s
commendable, honestly.
I see your point, I have that feeling too, about calf and shin, and generally plates on his legs are kind of thick, maybe even to much.
I might flatten them little bit, so they dont stand out so much.
THX MAN.
no problem love it so far still amazed by the details
Hey!!! this is great man! amazing details!!! 5 *!!! just show us more about this work! cheers.
Very nice work Air! your talent and detail is breathtaking.
I REALLY wish I could get a 9 million poly model on my crappy laptop but it seems to struggle with 1 million or less.
I love the scale work on this, the one thing I would consider is composing the image with the Carnotaur looking like he is ready to jump and chase the person taking the picture. The view you chose is great for a text book if that’s what your aiming for, but for an action shot maybe turn him towards the camera a bit.
If you’re going for realism as well, you may consider smaller horns…
Wow, listen to me, trying to crit someone of your standard. Know that I have found your work so far inspiring and detailed. I love the Sister and me pic and this, and the fact that everywhere I look there is some sort of detail to be found.
Keep it up!
Just to me alot of the scales(ie chest/snout) seem too big, just in comparison to its bodysize and when referencing other creatures alive today. its really up to debate though as there arent many dino skin imprints around(and I couldnt find any sort of size ref for any of them when i saw em)
The hands are a bit odd…but over all quite amazing
siamak_cgm_thx man, I will certainly try show more of my work as time goes by.
dustbin1_uk_dont hesitate man, In todays fast paced life, Im kinda honored to have someone else atracted for a split of time to giv me some advices or some meaningfull critic, so, Just tell what’s on your mind without hesitation.
9 mil polys, Basicaly, my PC struggles with it on the brink of falling apart,
but, super feature of HD sculpting enables me that kind of detail.
Except the fact that you cannot use all that detail as a displacement map for other app’s so I had to work my way arround it.
About the horns, well observed, and I know that based on skeleton, it presumabley had smaller horns, but trough modeling, I decided that longer horns look more menacing and to me much more appealing.
As for image, I think your wright about everything.
I’m planing for better complete FINAL image, when I finish all other contenders of GIGANTEA, but in a while, I hope I won’t have to talk about it, I hope the image will speak for it self.
THX for comments man, much apreciated,
Unleashed_ I know, although, Carnotaurus is one of more anonymous species, along his bones , paleontology-guy Jose Bonaparte found imprints of his scaly hide leading to conclusion that Carnotaurus(Meat eating Bull)
had exageratedly bumpy skin.
This is my interpretation, I know it can be better.
THX for another point of view man.
SolidSnakexxx_thx, ask Znewman about the hands:)
THX guys.
i was wondering does normalmapping use the HD sculpted info now(or if you had a workaround to it)? i read somewhere that it didnt but I cant remember how long ago that was
