Masking with Lazy Mouse ON?

Anyone know how to get the Lazy Mouse feature to work with brush masking in 3.5?

In Zbrush 3 all you had to do was set your brush on lazy mouse and the Masking would also be Lazy moused. why would they change that. please tell me they didnt scrap this.

thanks in advance

It still works that way for me.

weird. I wonder why its not workin for me.

Do you have any 3.1 plug ins installed? Are you using any imported 3.1 brushes?

Are you certain Lazy Mouse is actually on? What brush are you trying to use it with that you dont think it’s working?

No plugins installed, and no imported brushes. I’ve tried alot of brushes, all the simple standard brushes, like Standard, Infllat, Clay those kinda brushes so i can get a straight line. And yes Lazy mouse is on, it works fine for my brush strokes, its just not working when i hold CTRL to paint a mask.

What does happen when you hold Ctrl to paint a mask? Do you paint a mask, but just with a normal, non-LM stroke, or is no mask painted?

Also, are you sure you have ZB 3.5r2 ? Evidently there was some sort of issue with Lazy Mouse and masking in the original 3.5 release that was fixed in 3.5r2, but I don’t know if that was what it was, and I can’t check without deactivating my license.

Sorry, Im out of ideas.

So If I use lazy mouse while masking, will this sharpen my alphas? I am currently having a problem with my alphas seeming too rounded and beveled. its fine for some things. but there are other shapes which truly need a sharp edge.

I have tried adjusting the focal shift to -100, bu that still dosent seem to be enough.

Any suggestions?

I have compared the masking and alpha in 3.5R2 with that of 3.1, there is an obvious difference. I also have noticed that there is a difference in thickness when you mesh extract a mask. 1 in Z 3.1 is greatly thicker than 1 in 3.5R2.

I hope this is a bug, and that Pix will release another patch. I would hate to think that I have to wait until version 4 for a fix.

No when i hold CTRL i still get the normal masking effect. The only thing thats not working is the LM for the masking. maybe it is the 3.5 to 3.5r2 thing.

Gonna have to get back to you on the 3.5r2 issue, the Zbrush i’m using is at work so i’ll have to ask. But i’m pretty sure it’s 3.5r2. they keep things pretty updated here.

anyway i appreciate all the help, thanks again

not sure about the sharper alpha thing. The only reason i use LM while masking is to get a straighter line. Try using a smaller sized brush, in combination with the focal shift adjustment, and make sure your mesh is pretty dense.

SWEET! yup it was the 3.5r2 issue, we just installed 3.5r2 and the LM is masking.

thanks so much for your help, greatly appreciated
