Low Poly Head...

Hehehe! This is a fun distraction.

Thank you Ed. I learned a ton more stuff today and it is total fun…I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time with the faces that came up. I could load my whole hard drive with them so I had to reign myself in…

It definitely will take practice but I do see what you mean working with my female head you worked with and a low poly head by following the example in your script. That is too fun!

Here’s one of the results…

I need to go get some books because I think I can do caricaturization (sp?) with this technique! I love it!

Thank you again!

Great stuff Vikki…you are getting the hang of it…bloody simple really…also your models have more character and life.

It soon becomes easier (model making)…and faster…many in an hour…

Here’s a trick…especially when cartooning…

First picture here is a rough model…ie me placing shapes where I know something interesting will happen…once the rough is done…the trick is to inflate the entire model by the right amount to produce the 2nd pic here. Although I did alter bits after the inflate.

Both tools added for a looksee…both the finished ones.

Nice models ed. You know it never occured to me to use inflate to blow up a model. Usually I work with low poly models on a point by point basis so the idea of blowing it up would be anathema to me. But I just tested it on this low poly hand and I like the cartoony feel that it gets. The fat hand seems to have much more life to it.

Thanks for the tip.

here’s another loy poly head that has been around for a while. A couple of full XY inflates plus a half strength Z inflate.

I’ll have to explore this technique further.

Thanks again Ed!

Cartooning is one of my favorite things. I’ve been studying it for just a little while and can do a passable job in 2d with vectors. It’ll be fun to try some of my 2d stuff in Z.

I’ve got the models downloaded and will look at the them today and I know I’ll learn a ton more.

Hanuman! Great hands! Low poly? Oish…I worked on hands yesterday but I had to divide the mesh a lot. Seeing that it can be done low poly I’ll try it again. I just always keep getting one finger that always splits on the side.

jeeez… you are inspiring some masterpieces, Vikki (and developing own skills with mach2) - awesome heads, Ed, and gorgeous hands, hanuman!!!
