Load a Font File from disk

I am having an issue where “Load a Font File from Disk” doesn’t work at all. I can select the font from the finder window, but when I open it, it doesn’t do anything. No font gets loaded. I’ve tried it with .otf and .ttf files and all have the same results. it is the first time I have tried to use this plugin.

I am running ZBrush 2019.1.2 on a 2019 iMac with the i9 and 64 gigs of memory. My OS is the most current version of Mojave.

UPDATE: I tried installing the fonts I want to use into Font Book. The installed fonts don’t show up in ZBrush either. I’ve been trying different fonts to see if it was a problem with particular fonts but so far no font outside of the system fonts will work in ZBrush.

Hi Kyle. I just saw your post, so I hope you’re still there.

Are you actually entering some text in the “New Text” field so the font has something to display? Typing something into that field and then loading a font (.ttf here) on the HDD seems to work for me on Windows.

Yeah, there is text there. I can use any of the default fonts but can’t load my own.

OK, please bear with me as I make sure we are on the same page.

  1. Open the Text 3d and Vector shapes plug in.

  2. Type anything into the New Text field. Hit enter.

  3. Draw the text out on the canvas in whatever the default font is, and enter Edit (T) mode. You should now have live 3d text.

  4. Press the “Load Font File from Disk” button, and select the desired font from your HDD. Installed or uninstalled made no difference for me.

You should see your 3d text update to the new font.

If that is not what’s happening, it’s probably beyond our ability to help you with here. It could be an installation issue, or a permissions issue on your system. You may need to make a support ticket. If there’s an issue with your OS or system configuration, they need to know that too.

Yeah, I’m doing all the steps and I can get the text to change font if I’m using the ones that already show up in the font list in ZBrush. I just can’t load anything with the “load a font file from disk” button and zb use doesn’t recognize any fonts I activate from Font Book
