Is there a way to split a model in two by drawing the slice line by hand?

I modeled a medallion that was meant to be split in 2 as if it broke that way, I’ve tried this and that but I’m stumped could someone please advise me? I want to be able to draw a line by hand and have it split the model in 2 but it can’t be a straight line if that’s possible, any help is greatly appreciated!!

this is what the model looks like, basically I’d like to trace a line onto the vertical crack and separate the model into two pieces, they have to be able to come together again like a puzzle piece once 3D printed.

Use the Slice curve brush.

That will do exactly what you want. After slicing you’ll want to close holes.

… or you could use a mask and then create a polygroup from masked.
Once you have the 2 halves in their own polygroups, you could split the groups into subtools.
