However, the result was not ideal.

If you have a question about how an artist accomplishes something in their tutorials or videos, you should contact that artist.
Here is the extended video in which Michael Pavlovich creates this flower:
He shows in detail how he creates the petals, and the Dynamic settings he uses. Be sure to pause the video and copy those settings and petals as closely as possible. The position, size, thickness, and topology of the petals will all affect the results when using Dynamics.
A note on topologyâDynamics work best with meshes of lower resolution. You want to keep the polycount as low as possible for the best control and performance. Rely on Dynamic Subdivision to preview the petals in smoother form. The petals in your image are noticeably higher in polygon density than Michaelâs petals. This will affect your results.
