Some updates
More to come
Frenchy, thanks!
Here’s Sam Spade. Hat, shirt, tie, suit and Bogie started out in Silo. Had a ZBrush pass for texture and displacement. Render done in Carrara.
An attempt at recreating the feel of 1940s Hollywood noir lighting.
Tone down the bump on the face and your good. The pores on the cheeks seem too large.
Good work though. Are you planning on adding color or is this one going to be strictly B&W?
I agree with reducing the noise on the face. I dont know if you used a noise curve in the standard brush. If not, use it at a low intensity.

Thanks guys,
I got carried away with the pores… because with ZBrush you CAN!!!
I reduced the intensity of the normal map in Carrara and rerendered.
Here’s an update with adjustment.
Since The Maltese Falcon was a black and white movie, I am sticking with black and white for renders.
I might do another sculpt of Bogie later (his face is very interesting) African Queen era, and in color.
I really like your picture. My only comment is that the hat seems too large. If you go straight up from the sides of the head to the sides of the hat. it bulges outward.
Here’s my final without the hat. Added some reflection and SSS to his eyes.
Cheers
