How to update GOZ to open Character Creator 4 instead of CC3?

Will there be an update to enable GoZ to round trip to Character Creator 4? When I send a a character from CC4 and then after modifying it in ZBrush 2022 - using the GoZ or the All button opens up CC3 instead of CC4 where I sent it from.

Hello @Aldon_H1

Go to “Preferences > GoZ” and click on the Path to your CC3 application then, in the dialog that pops up after the auto-search finishes, browse for your CC4 application and select that executable.

Hi,

Welcome to ZBC!

If @zber2’s suggestion (thanks zber2!) doesn’t work then please contact Reallusion support because they are responsible for the Character Creator GoZ plugin.

Thanks!
Marcus

Thank you! I did try that, ZBrush tried to install the latest GoZ for it but the install is failing.

I’m getting an error about “possible” permissions on the folder. I ran ZBrush as administrator as the error box suggested. I’ll open a support ticket. Thanks for the replies!

Yes, that message is generic and is only guessing at the problem. I expect that you will need an update of the GoZ plugin for CC4 from Reallusion.

In my case

copy all files in folder →

C:\Program Files\Reallusion\Character Creator 4\Resource\ICGoZBrush

paste into

C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\CharacterCreator

and verify the location of the path to exe file in Goz_Config.txt

then in zbrush Preferences → Goz → path tho Character Creator

select CC version to export

Hi Aldon, i had the same problem but managed to relink my char from zbrush to cc4 by following the steps outlined by ahingel

https://www.reallusion.com/FeedBackTracker/Issue/zbrush-goz-doesnt-let-me-install-the-goz-to-cc4

The zbrush Pref GoZ path to Char Creator still had error installing, but clicking on the goz All button worked!
(click on Pref, GoZ, path to Character Creator then select the CC4 option, then skip installation)

Also i found that all the subtool names CC_Base_Body, CC_Base_Eye, etc must not have numbers behind ((1) etc) for the relink to work

All the best!

After 2 days of ripping my hair out, I finally got it to work. Here’s what I did.

  1. Copy all the GoZ files from:
    C:\Program Files\Reallusion\Character Creator 4\Resource\ICGoZBrush\CharacterCreator

  2. Paste them in:
    C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\CharacterCreator

  3. Open “GoZ_Config.txt”
(That should be in the “C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\CharacterCreator” folder by now)

  4. Edit the first line (PATH = "***) to where your CC4 is installed.
    In my case: PATH = “C:\Program Files\Reallusion\Character Creator 4\Bin64\CharacterCreator.exe”

  5. Open Zbrush, and here’s the most important part: DO NOT REINSTALL GoZ!!!

  6. DO NOT REINSTALL GoZ!

  7. DO NOT REINSTALL GoZ!!

  8. GoZ whatever subtool you’re trying to send, and CC4 should open this time.

Hope that helps everyone.
Cheers!

Hi, I’ll point you in the right direction so I will give you a quick workaround to all that copy and pasting. The reason this is happening is that cc4 is not adding a folder to the path C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps location.

  1. On your first directory with IGoZbrush. Just copy the CC4 folder and place it into the GoZApps folder.

  2. Open Zbrush and select Update all paths. Skip the ones yo dont need but, when it get to cc4 just install the path. And it will open cc4.

  3. This may or may not be a part of it but, I had 2 objects ready to port over to goz cc4 so when it connected I can see the pop up window asking me to update new content and the two objects appeared. This is the best solution. Peace!
