How to "straighten" edges of an edge loop?

Using the ZModeler Brush: How can I straighten an edge loop?

Either way, horizontal or vertical?

The result I want to achieve, see below snapshot from Blender:

Thx for any ideas, hints and tips!

Hi @FattyBull ,

To affect any series of points in ZBrush without affecting the surrounding points you must first isolate them. With Zmodeler, this is best done with masking.

If you have a clean edgeloop that ZModeler can recognize, this is easily done with the Edge> Transpose> Edge Loop action. That will automatically mask all points except the points that make up that edge loop. Otherwise you will need to manually mask them with the traditional methods.

Once your points are isolated you can flatten them to a plane by :

  1. Aligning the Gizmo manipulator to the plane you want to flatten the points to, and dragging on the “scale” controllers perpendicular to that plane to flatten them to it.

  2. In certain situations, the Clip Curve brush can be used to quickly draw a plane to flatten the points to.

Note that in both of these situations this will distort the silhouette of your shape. If you want to avoid this, instead simply delete that loop and slice a new edge loop through the mesh with slice curve. Remember to disable perspective mode so your mesh can be cleanly sliced through at the same points on either side.
