how to make human face uv maps.

i am somewhat new in zbrush and can’t seem to figure out how to make face uvs. I see everyone elses and wonder if they actually make these things or download them from somewhere then i realize that someone had to have made them in the first place anyway. Anyway, how do you make these uv maps to put on human faces.

you have to unwrap a head model then paint it.

if you don’t know how to unwrap, look up tuts on it. Roadkill UV’s is a free unwrapper and has a good how to tutorial for getting you started.

how long does it take to paint a uv

to unwrap, or to paint?

both are relative. To unwrap can be quick and easy, or very pain staking. It all depends on how intricate the model is, where the details need to be, how many seems you want/have.

Painting a face can take as little as 10min or 10hrs. That is also very much dependent on what you wish to achieve.

well, i want the skin to look human(not just brown paint). I don’t want to kill myself making anything ridiculously complicated since this would be my first time. How long does it take you

30 min to an hour usually. then tweeking here and there.
this one is 45min i think.

alright thanks. i don’t have photoshop. do you think i could get something relatively good compared to that with gimp.

never used gimp so I can’t tell ya one way or the other.
