How to do this little concave curve effect?

Hi all,

See below screenshot, especially the part indicated by the black arrows.

How does one go about using zBrush to get this kind of little concave curves that goes up then curves outwards? I’ve tried masking out the top part then using Taper and Size in the Deformations tab to play around, but…

In a traditional software like Cinema 4D, I can easily use the Lathe method. ZB has that Sweep Profile 3D but the window for that is tiny, painful and hard to use…can’t adjust the points properly.

Is there an alternate method in ZB, without using an external program?

Tks!

radial symmetry and the move brush will get you what you need most likely

Or you could try the Curve Lathe brush.

Is there a reason you can’t use an external program?

Sometimes I see people put silly limitations on themselves instead of doing what’s quickest and easiest. I’m not saying your reasoning behind not using external program is silly but look at your project honestly. If it’s budget reasons then take a look at Blender.

Multiple tools, especially specialized tools, can be very streamlined and more efficient than a ‘Swiss Army knife’ approach. They can save a lot of time and money if done properly. Careful though as multiple tools can also cause inefficiency and a loss of time and money. In other words don’t focus on limiting your tools but instead optimize your workflow based on your budget and tools available.

Tks a lot guys!

@ beta: I tried using the radial symmetry and setting the count to 100, pulling up the top then pulling it down again but the results look weird. Maybe I’m doing it wrong

@ marcus: Cool brush! Will give it a try.

@ MentalFrog: Tks, actually, I’ve Cinema 4D (been using it for a while before I learned ZB recently).
The reason I prefer to do everything in ZB is something like a personal challenge. I want to be that badass artist who can do everything from intricate hard surface stuff to pure organic stuff all in ZB and only using a 3rd party software for lighting and render.
