How do you move by number of units?

Hello,

Can someone please tell me if it’s possible to move part of an object by inputting the number of units in Zbrush using the transpose tool?

For example, lets say I have the cube and I want to make it 18 units by 18 units by 2 units… I assume I would use the move tool with transpose and make it 18 units across by inputting a number instead of just randomly pulling it… how do you do this?

Thank you.

(I think there is a way to initialize before making polymesh 3d, but can you also input number of units for pulling/moving after it is a polymesh?)

If you’re wanting precise unit sizes you’re mostly out of luck. That said, you have a few options.

Select only a 3d primitive and look at the initialize panel for it. If you have any polymesh3d then it won’t give you the same options. I don’t remember off hand if there is a size option in there…but I believe there is.

You can also try to use the deformations as well.

Personally, if you need precise measurements of things, use a traditional 3d app and bring those meshes back into zbrush.

Thank you very much. But I think even the “initialize” panel for when you first start primitives is like a percentage. It says 100 for default at each axis. Changing it seems to not make any sense either. It won’t let you change those number to 18 for example so I could make 18 units mean mm. It only lets you change the numbers to higher numbers so I did 180 or 1800 thinking I would have the proportions. Then… I have to just scale it close to what I want.

You can use the Tool>Geometry>Size sliders.
