How do you import more spheres on zbrush?

I want to be able to create eyes in zbrush and I don’t know what tool to use to create more spheres on the same project, I want to be able to see the head and sphere I am creating simultaneously.

Hello dektawar567,

Welcome to ZBCentral

In order to get eyes into a Tool you will use SubTools and append the eyes.

  1. Have your face on the canvas and in Edit Mode. Now click on the tools in the Tool Menu and it will bring up a dialog of all the 3d tools and primitives in ZBrush. Select the Sphere3D and it will be on the canvas in edit mode. Don’t worry your head is still there in the tools.

  2. Now hit the Make PolyMesh3D button in the tool menu. This turns a primitive into a 3D mesh that you can edit.

  3. Now reselect your head tool. In the Tool Menu go to the SubTool menu and hit the Append Button. This will append any SubTool to your main tool, you may have many SubTools. Make sure you hit the PolyMesh Sphere it should be named PM3D_Sphere3D.

  4. Hit the newly appended PM3D_Sphere3D SubTool and hit rename button. Name it Eye001a and hit enter. If you haven’t already select your head tool and also rename this as well. Make sure the Eye001a SubTool is selected.

  5. Next you will either click on the Transparency and Ghost Buttons that are found on the side menu of your ZB or you can also access these in the Transform Menu. Make sure both Transparency and Ghost buttons are selected. This will make your head like a ghost and sort of transparent and your eye solid looking so you can see it.

  6. Using the Move Transpose line move (the center circle of the line only on this transpose line or it will stretch your eye out) move your eye closer to where it should be in the head. You may also use the Rotate (all the circles on the line may be used with this transpose line), and the scale transpose line (do not use the center circle for this transpose line or it will stretch your eye), you can also use the scale, rotate, and offset sliders in the Tools/Deformation sub menu to position your eye into your head. Selecting a blank area on your canvas you can rotate all the tools to see different angles to make sure you have your eye in the head properly.

  7. Once your eye is in the head properly go to the SubTool menu and hit the Duplicate Button. A new SubTool will be appended. Click on the new SubTool. Go to the Deformation Sub Menu and making sure that x is selected on the Mirror button Hit the button. Now you can either hit the MergeSimilar button in the SubTool menu and hit yes when the dialog comes up saying this is undoable or go back up to the first eye and hit the MergeDown button and hit yes. Either will work for this.

  8. Go to the Transform Menu and hit Activate Symmetry button and make sure X is selected and now anything you do to one eye will also be done to the other. You can also use the Transpose Move, Scale, and Rotate just like you did in # 6 but using the X Symmetry will give you 2 lines instead of one.

Hope this helps. Also try google “how to make eyes in ZBrush” and that should come up with a few links on how to do that some of which will be links to the ZBCentral threads made by other users here and also videos made by us on YouTube. I also have a few beginner tutorials that might be helpful to you. If you need anything PM me and let me know.

Have fun
