How do you change Matcap glossiness?

Hi

I downloaded some of the Stone Matcap materials from ZBrush’s Resource Centre, but I was just wondering - how do you tone down the glossiness? They’re looking a bit too shiny for my tastes. I’m trying to do a likeness sculpt based on a stone/marble sculpture. I’ve tried playing with some of the modifier/wax settings, but nothing seems to be helping; it’s still looking too shiny.

Thanks

Hi @DustyShinigami ,

Matcaps have their lighting and much of their material information baked into the material itself. They will not respond to changes in scene lighting and there’s a limit to how much you can tweak them without re-creating the Matcap.

If you want to use a more interactive material, chose one from the Standard Materials section. Standard materials are made up of one or more Shaders that can be tweaked or copy and pasted between materials.
