How do I transfer my current license to a new pc - Answered

I’m planning to upgrade to a new laptop shortly. Do I need to deactivate my current license first and then install ZBrush 4 on the new machine? How would I go about obtaining a new activation code?

Thanks in advance.

Yvan.

Yes, that’s what you need to do. Otherwise the old machine will continue to count against your serial number’s two activation limit.

As to how to get a new activation code, once you install ZBrush on the new computer you simply use Web Activation exactly like when you installed before.

Thanks a lot aurick!

Okay, deactivated (web deactivation option) within ZBrush. Zbrush tried to open a web page, which I assume is to confirm the notification on the Pixo web site. However the page returned an error saying the it should not be trusted as the security certificate has been revoked by the issuer. Not sure what this means.

Is it safe for me to uninstall ZB 4R2 on my old machine and to install on my new machine and proceed with activation? I tried to launch ZB on my old machine but it immediately shuts down after a few seconds. I assume it is as a result of the deactivation. Just wanted to make sure.

Thanks.

You happened to pick the time while our IT manager was upgrading our servers. Unfortunately, that means that the deactivation did not complete.

The way to proceed from here is to install ZBrush on the new computer and use Web Activation. If you get a message telling you that you’re out of activations there will be a button to “View Activation History”. In that case, you’ll be able to check off the activation from your old computer and submit the form. This creates a Support ticket for us with the info that we need to remove the lost activation from your serial number.

If you don’t get the “activated too many times” message, the system will instead just create an activation code and you won’t have to worry about the lost activation at this time.

Again, thank you so much Aurick. ZB installed & activated on my new machine and it rocks!
