How do I save all my current configuration of my zbrush?

I would save my brushes and then copy the files into a certain folder within the zbrush install directories

everything I start zbrush, I would do → Preference → Init Zbrush and it would load all my brush sizes for me.

I would also set the → Preference → Quicksave and set both the maximum duration and rest duration to the highest value so that zbrush does not save often.

how do I save my current zbrush configuration so that everytime I start zbrush, it would auto recall my brush size and quicksave settings?

Thank you much much

Hello @One_Above_All ,

In order for brushes or materials, etc. to load with ZBrush they should be added to the ZBrush Startup folders. Custom content will not appear in ZBrush until it is loaded into the program, even if placed on a UI.

We recommend limiting these additions to 25 items per category (25 brushes, 25 materials, etc.) This has performance implications for ZBrush, and should be limited to items you’ll be using every single session. More situational items should be loaded through Lightbox on demand.

We do not recommend altering your ZData folder. ZBrush is very sensitive to the contents of that folder, and we cannot promise it won’t break your installation if improperly modified. If you have placed items into that folder I recommend a full reinstall.

In order to save most of the settings in the Preferences menu to be remembered at startup you must store the config (Preferences> Config> Store Config.)

thank you very much Spyndel

I can save my quicksave configuration and everytime I load zbrush, it recalls my previous save quicksave configuration.

I am not sure why everytime I set the standard brush ZIntensity to the value of 6, and do Prefences → config → Store config,

it does not save my standard brush ZIntensity of value 6.

everytime I load zbrush, the standard brush ZIntensity value always reset to 25.

can you please tell me how I can custom set my standard brush ZIntensity to 6 and save this value so that everytime I load zbrush, it remembers this value of 6?

Thank you very much once again.

Kind Regards,

Hello @One_Above_All ,

“Store Config” stores most of the settings in the Preferences menu. Settings like “Remember Draw Size Per Brush” can be stored with the config because they live in the Preferences menu when not hanging out on the UI  Otherwise if a setting or feature is located outside of the Preferences menu, Store> Config probably does not apply to it.

Most brush related settings are saved with the brush. You would need to create a custom brush preset with Brush>Save as. Save a custom version of the brush you want and load it on demand from Lightbox or add it to the Startup folders.

Remember though that there are limits to this. You will need to make some decisions about what you really need to add to startup, and what can be loaded on demand when the situation calls for it.

thank you Spyndel,

after I launch zbrush,

I load a object from lightbox,

I then custom the standard brush zintensity to 6

I then brush → save as → save brush to my pc

I then copy this custom standard brush file to my zbrush installation directory\zstartup\brushpreset\ directory

when I launch zbrush I am not sure why the standard brush zintensity is not set to 6 as it should

the damn standard, move, clay tube brush all can be auto set to zintensity of 6 in this manner

all except the standard brush

am I doing something wrong?

any help is much appriciated.

Hi @One_Above_All ,

When you save a custom preset it creates an entirely new brush. You would need to load that brush, not the default Standard Brush. So name your brush “My Standard” or whatever you like, and switch to that.

Thank you very much for all your help, time and patience Spyndel

It is much appriciated
